This piece represents the tension of a failed relationship. One figure has open eyes reflecting a willigness to love while the other is emotionally withdrawn with a closed heart and eyes. Painted in opposing colors to emphasize their disjuction, their noses faded into similar tones showing that in some small ways there was a connection, like a spark unable to light.
